View Full Version : Question: If I have a crappily built TT, will it be put together better after ESP retrofit?

I think we have clearly established that build quality varies wildly on the TT. Such as, Denny's car was built a few weeks before mine and has had zero problems, but I have had a list of 20 minor problems 2 medium and 1 major (valve cover leak).

I am sure that the ESP retrofit will entail taking the car apart quite a bit. My thinking is that they have to do a better job in Houston, whomever they are, of putting my car back together than the Hungarians did they days they built my car.

I am also betting that they are using experienced ESP retrofitters from Germany since Audi doesn't manufacture anything in North America. (I know VW has big plants in Mexico.)

Whaddya think?

Ivan, you will instead find new things that are not fitting anymore and then you have to have those fixed! :(

Personally I would leave the car as is. It does not need ESP and if you go to anymore auto-x's or QCUSA Drivers Schools, make sure you turn the ESP off! I have talked to a few S4 drivers that have left the ESP on during an auto-x run and were so pissed at how bad the car drove. They were not able to toss it where it needed to be because the computer didn't like how they were driving! :(

I know you can turn it off with a button, but you need to do so EVERYTIME you start the car! By default it is always ON. :(

Good luck with whatever your choice might be.

great! Think it's chancy that you'd get TT back in better condition than it is currently. My two pennies worth!

I would take mine in. But then again, other then the engine failure, my problems are interior. No heat on the heated seats, whacky window controls, squeeky rear glass screen.

Still glad I have it, trials and all.
