i'm sorry to say, i'm leaning towards the s2000 instead of the TT for my next car.
i always knew turbos would get expensive, this proves it.

Who needs torque when you have all that horsepower.... available at like 10K rpm. (yes I know. I'm exaggerating for sarcastic effect)

and that is for those who don't want to wait till audi comes up with a perm fix. That's also not taking into account the fact that not everyone has even had the problem. Yes, I think you deserve the sterile, plastic beauty that is an s2000. :)

it's not the $120... it's the voided warranty i'm worried about.
plus, the dealer is 150 miles from home.
it's a tough decision, i know. I test drove a 225 tt and was thoroughly impressed. even though the numbers on paper say the s2000 is quicker, the tt felt quicker to me. sounded quicker too.

..I won't say the S2000 is a bad choice but your means of arriving at that decision are badly flawed, so I must assume you are just string up trouble. JIM<p><img SRC="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/AudiWorldPics/2000/JIMTSIGTTFORUM.JPG"BORDER=0></A>

Reasons why I didn't buy the S2000:
I had 2 Hondas and both had tranny problems at 75000
30K car but the dealer wants 40K
The tach and speedo. I don't care if thats like the F1 cars. Its not.
Cheap plastic interior.
No grin factor.

isn't going to void your warranty. Go with what you want you like, the s2k is fast but it's not the all around beauty that a TT is.

Even though the TT was rated last, it was given good raves. The reason we got 4th was largely due to our weight, which was the heaviest of the 4.
Not once did the H get good power raves for that editors. One editor complain to Honda and pleaded for a 2.5liter and more torque, but would settle for a 7000rpm redline. They said that the Honda's torque comes all out at 7500+RPM - the insanely low 154lbs of torque. Also said that anything below 6000rpm its like driving a Civic. I can believe it. 0-60 in 5.4 seconds? HA, if you dropped the clutch at 7000(!)RPM. Stick with the TT. Dump the cheezy Honda.
If your not satisfied with the power the TT offers, Chip it and you can go from 225--->268.<p>JasonC

i knew you guys would get defensive, but i'm really NOT trying to stir up trouble here, i just wanted to see what kind of input you guys would have as a result of my impromptu car comparison.
i know the s2000 has a cheap interior, vinyl and digital. I MUCH PREFER THE TT.
but the thought of ANY tech problems bothers me, considering the dealer is almost two hours away.
now... did i hear this right, the bailey valve install does not void the warranty?
i thought i heard my dealer say that if it's not an audi part, that it would void the warranty, but i could be wrong.
i still have 3 months before i'm able to order the tt, i'll keep watching the messages, and hoping audi OFFICIALLY comes up with a fix for the problem.
before i finish, let me repeat, I do prefer the TT.

Keep in mind out of every 10 grumpy bad problem posts, there are probably 100 statisfied owners.
Like me.
No issues, no honk, 3500 or so miles.
People don't just post messages like 'I drove my TT around today, and nothing was wrong with it! however many post 'my DV SUX!!'
I drove the S2000, and I drove the TT 225. I like to carry on conversations at highway speeds and the S2000 revs too dang high . i don't like the roaring sound, I like quiet subdued power.
The TT has quiet subdued power. It doesn't sound like it, but it can flat out haul.
And those 0-60 times are just like computer benchmarks. You woudln't dare do that to your system to get those kinda numbers. Unless it's an automatic, then it's raw power, but 0-60 on a manual tranmission usually involves things you don't want to do to your baby. I don't like the idea of reving my engine to 4000 and just popping my foot off the clutch. scary idea to me.
Go with what you want, but a stupid $100 part shouldn't keep you from buying a beautiful machine like the TT.<p>Tom Boucher

. I have owned several Acura Integras (Have A GSR now) and they are pretty damn reliable. If I had to bet I'd say they will be less trouble than any German car. But that's not the end of the story, what will it cost to keep they in perfect running order and how much pleasure will you derive from the ownership experience. I can tell you Hondas do have problems and that running repairs on an Acura are not cheap: clutch -$1200+, timing belt-$650+, struts $790+. I don't talk about my 88 golf with 300,000 + miles on it much (kids car) but having done all maintenance work on it and all my other vehicles, I can say that the all cost. Yes Japanese cars are less trouble for the first 30,000, after that, forget about it. If you want to keep the car for a long term relationship, get the car you want that's the TT. You can't strategize a course through life that will eliminate all problems so go for the gusto. JIM<p><img SRC="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/AudiWorldPics/2000/JIMTSIGTTFORUM.JPG"BORDER=0></A>

dealer to put that in writing and send it to AoA for clarification and corroboration. Exactly how far does that extend? If you use a non-Audi compatible oil filter, does that void the warranty? How about non-performance compatible brake pads from another manufacturer? What about wiper blades? I don't think some of these dealers realize how ludicrous they sound with their scare tactics.

To get max performance out of it, you have to drive it like you're pissed at it. The different cam profile doesn't even take effect under 6K RPM or so, so if you shift at 5K or so in each gear, it will drive like a Prelude...
