... or rather, the lack of Audi content.) I test drove a friend's new 2000 GTI yesterday, and lemme tell you, brothers and sisters, this is not my father's Volkswagen. I'm frankly amazed at the amount of goodies you get (aside, of course, from the VR6 which hauls like a freight train.) Auto door locks, 200(!)-watt eight-speaker stereo, comfortable and supportive leather seats, sunroof and keyless entry. Man, if this thing had a power driver's seat with memory, I'd be pissed -- it'd actually have more bells'n'whstles than my practically loaded 2.8 Avant!

The only downsides (and these are minor): A ride that's not quite as buttoned-down as I'd like and a too-small stowage area withthe rear seats up. Not even enough room for a golf bag.
