I've got the famous 225 diverter valve "hum". I saw a thread a while back about buying from Forge in England. Did anything come of that? Or is there an Audi replacement solution?<p><img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/AudiWorldPics/2000/keyfob.jpg">

Hi Chris! Congrats on your recent purchase! I did the same thing a month ago, trading in my black 180 fwd for a silver 225. LOVE IT! Got the nav cd (CA/NEV) last week too. It's really easy to use and have found it very helpful indeed.

Anyway, Audi's current valve prob fix is a new diverter valve part#: 06A-145-710-G. Other 225 owners that have done this change say that it minimizes the hum but not heal completely. Apparently, Audi is still working on a fix.

...seems like Audi is quite baffled with this one. At least they're on it. Let's hope that a permanent fix will arise soon. In the mean time I try to rev as fast away from 2,900 rpms as possible while on 2nd. Though it does occur - at least for me - in 3rd and 4th sometimes - still at 2,900 - 3,000 rpm region.

But there is more to the DV issure than the resonance/hum...a malfunctioning DV can also cause surging (in 2, 3,& 4 gear when just cruising...no hard accel) and appears to be related to hight rpm (6000+) power drop. I will say this is the theory and the head Audi mechanic at my dealer is going to resolve...he is very good and determined to figure this all out. Waiting on G part and then the analysis can begin.<p><img SRC="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/AudiWorldPics/2000/tttiny.JPG" BORDER=0>
