If you have the opportunity... from Ketchum/Sun Valley, Id. to Mt Home, Id. via US 20, total drive is 112 miles, the 80 miles on US 20 thru the Sawtooth National Forest is one fantastic sports car road. AutoPilot's Mountain Directory indicates 400+ mountain passes and grades, nothing but curves, hairpins, mountains. The scenery is beautiful, so I am told. My wife and son had driven this on a short vacation and insisted, last fall that I do so in the TT. I hadn't shifted so much in years.. what I ride.

http://rd.bc.yahoo.com/bc?i&.url=http://i5.yimg.com/5/bf26657b/h/bd6b8a1c/Idahoswitchback.jpg</a

Ok, this is a must-drive road but bring the Dramamine if you have a passenger. The locals call it The Dragon. Going East on the TN/NC border on US129, drive towards Fontana, NC and if I remember correctly, it turns into NC route 28. Get ready for 318 turns over the course of 11 miles but be careful of the crotch rockets, this is a favorite of theirs.

The Dragon is great, but there are lots of roads in the Blue Ridge nearby that are right up there: Thunder Road, Grandfather Mtn, Caesar's Head, The Hungry Mother, The Baby Dragon, etc, etc. I've got an M Roadster and have been leading Z3 drives on these twisties for the last couple of years. When I get the TT (September?) I'll organize some TT runs...should be some serious fun.
