I thought it would be of interest, particularly for ne w owners, to give a status report of the experiences with my TT during a 12 month period.

The car was purchased May 10, 1999 and I have driven it just over 28,500 miles.

The only time it has been to the dealer has been at the scheduled 5,000 mile intervals for the oil change.

I switched to 5W30 Mobil 1 synthetic at the first oil change and at each subsequent service.

My daily commute is over 40 miles each way about 30 miles of that is highway and I average close to 29 mpg (us).

I drive the car every day and used it all winter with no problems in the snow. I do have Pirelli P7000 SS all season tires.

I have experienced no problems with the transmission and it shifts better now than it did new.

Acceleration is a little lacking, but by careful use of all the gears you can pretty much keep ahead of most cars that are not being driven by outright idiots.

I thought about chipping, which I did to my old A4, but based on the number of times I was able to take advantage of the extra performance I decided I didn't want to pay for a chip in the TT.

The TT performs well at accelerating above 60 mph and since I do a lot of highway driving and passing trucks this is a major benefit.

Overall I could not have had a car that has been as trouble free and enjoyable as this car has been.

One observation would be that when the car is trouble free the dealer service always appears to outstanding - there is nothing to complain about !!!!!

Unlike when I had my A4 - which had a few minor problems - then I always had to be on the dealers case to make sure they did everything I asked.

If I had to identify one thing that I would like improved it would be the seating comfort.
Since I spend so much time in the car after an extended period I find the seat back to be somewhat uncomfortable - the padding is too hard and doesn't conform to my lower back.

But that's it - I will say it has been a very enjoyable first year !!!!

and finally inquisitive questions and astonished stares from other drivers have stopped

regards

Kevin

BTW - I don't intend to have any of the suspension and spoiler mods
