I think it would be extremely helpful if forum participants would regularly post the solutions to problems they've had with their TTs. In that spirit, I'm happy to say that the service department at University Audi was able to correct the chirping and engine whine sounds in the CD player. They simply ran a new, separate ground wire for it. Problem solved!

That's what I thought it was (see below). I'm not trying to do the old "I told ya so," but if I could figure this out, then Audi should've figured it out long ago!
I'm glad your problem has been fixed.

good to know... when I install my cd changer, I'll be sure to run a new ground!!
John, will you have the dealer do this, or do it yourself? If the latter, please post regarding procedure. Thanks.

I'm still waiting for my 225, but it will not have the audio "upgrade." I'll buy the Panasonic CXDP610 changer myself (same thing, much less $). Of course I'll also add an a/d/s/ amp, MB Quart components, and an a/d/s/ sub, but that's another story.
I will probably ground it myself since I'll be removing the panel to install the changer--it shouldn't be much trouble.
If you haven't purchased your changer yet, the link below is the cheapest I've found. I haven't ordered from Sound City yet, so I can't vouch for them. You'll also need the mounting "arm" from Audi.

Could you post the phone number and a service contact name at University Audi.......so that when my dealer again goes around in circles on this, I can put them in touch with a person and place that knows the procedure.
thanks......

I can't believe it was that simple. Question did you have the whine noise or the morse code type noise in between tracks on the CD? On my car I have noticed the morse code type of noise on the cds and a whine with the tuner on AM. Just curious if the new ground is the cure for all of what I've got. Also where is University Audi??? Thanks
