For those of you who missed this before:

The C-pillar dents are a manufacturing defect with the '99.5 A4. I'm not sure if they've
had similar problems with earlier models. My dents were diagnosed by the AoA
Regional Service Rep. The dealer told me it had something to do with excess glue
being applied to the inside of the C-pillars. They removed the interior trim,
photographed the areas of concern (to be sent to Germany), and fixed the problem.
No more dents! The only downside is that the trim pieces are a PITA to reinstall and
don't look factory-spec (I, being a perfectionist with my car, notice these things). I'm the
only person who will ever notice, and it's certainly better than two exterior dents.

for us newbies....the C-Pillar are the pillars on the left and right sides of the rear window, right?

I'll be sure to be careful and keep an eye on them. Thanks.

I have a 99.5 and have no such thing. Were they always there?

Pillars start with A next to the windshield, and then increase as you move towards the back of the car.

So I suppose a limo could have G pillars :)

C=large pillar between rear side windows and rear window. I guess there could be D or even E pillars in a car like a suburban or a Grand Caravan, Idunno.

Yep... just checked my 99.5(3K miles) and I got a small dent on the driver side C pillar. The other side is OK however. I don't know if I would go through the trouble of having it fixed however because it looks very minor..

Aw heck, why not, it FREE! :)

I am a newbie here, and I have gotten a lot of useful info from this forum. (Thanks to all.) Unfortunately I did not see this warning until it was too late. Not sure how I got them. They are not too deep, but definitely noticeable. Maybe from waxing?
