Are the assembly line workers for the A4s East or West Germans? I've been informed that most A4s (especially the 1.8Ts) are built by teams of East Germans and are of lower assembly quality than the ones built by West Germans. The reason given is the lingering Communist mentality where you're paid whether or not you deliver. Allegedly, the VW A4 Jettas, assembled in Mexico, have comparable assembly quality to the Audi 1.8Ts. Wow...

Audi has no assembly lines in East Germany. (which in fact doesn´t exist any more - where
have you been that long ?)
It is possible though, that the engines ere assembled in Mosel (near Chemnitz), there is
a large dependance of VW. IMO though, the 5-valvers are mostly produced in GYÖR in Hungary
with a similar quality as in (West - if you like) Germany. The TT definitely is part-assembled
in Györ.

P.S.: the roots of Audi are in Sachsen (the state) and this is located: In the former East Germany !

so any "problems" with the 1.8T would be on *all* models. I'm not sure, but I'm willing to bet that the S4 is assembled on the same line too.

Oh, if you haven't noticed, there hasn't been a East or West Germany for about 10 years now.
