We just bought a spankin' brand new A4 a few months ago and there's been nothing but one problem after another. We bought it from Bramgate Audi in Brampton, Ontario, Canada. It's a 2.8 quattro TIP in silver and it's really leaving us with a pit in the bottom of our stomaches after spending $50,000 CAN for a new car that came with a trunk full of grief.

I need to find out who I can contact higher upstream at Audi (beyond the dealer) about this vehicle so I can display my true feelings about what I think about their product that they sold us. I figure nothing was wrong with the cash I gave them, so what gives on the merchandice they sold me?????

Does anyone here have a contact name, address etc, etc. I'm losing my wits and I figure I should write now so at least the letter has some calm content in it before I really snap.......

Anyway, so far Bramgate has been ok. They haven't solved a number of problems on the many visits the car has made but they are trying to be cooperative. Thumbs up to them on that.

Annoyed....... Tom

ps.... please email me directly if at all possible

Tom, I am about to get an Audi A4. What are the types of problems that you have had with your car, and has your dealer mentioned if they are commong problems.

Just so you know you have the right to take Audi to arbitration if you do not get the problems fixed after 3 attempts. You do this through the Canadian Motor Vechile Arbitration Program (CAMVAP)

Good luck

I would keep working with the dealers. In the mean time maybe A4.org can help - would you like to post more information about your troubles? - we're listining....

You might also like to perform a search in the archives (once their up) using the key word "lemon" - you might find some useful stories.

There's not an arms length of things, but for a few month old car (?)

blinkers not always working (fixed)
Engine warbling noises at idle at all times (not fixed)
defective water pump (new one installed)
timing belt changed with water pump
chipped door trim on delivery (still to be fixed)
noisy locking mechanism (may just be in need of lube)
sunroof fails to close at times (not fixed)
(I think there's few other things but I forget them off the top of my head)

Yes, I guess I am nit-picking here but this is a brand new car, and not even a virgin model either. Outside of the wierd engine noise and the sunroof, the other problems are minor I guess.

The sunroof problem...... .they are checking the computer programming on this?!?! Huh??

The engine noise........ our car seems to run noisy at idle...... not very smooth for a V6. My wife drives it and so I see very little of the car, but when I hear it, it sounds noisy and unrefined. Could this be because it's not broken it yet (dealer suggestion)?? That makes no sense to me.

Anyway, I guess on my part there is also a little embarrassment when people ask us how our new Audi is and we have to tell them it's in the shop again. This is part of my annoyance with the thing.

Oh well, it comes back to us again from the shop today.

Let's see...you paid $50,000 for a car, a fine German road car. For that kind of money I would expect a Audi representative to be knocking on your door and falling all over himself to apologize. You are not being picky and have the right to expect a defect-free product. I'm also considering a A4 purchase. Please keep us posted on the progress of your problems.
