in today's ligitious society, how long the original Porsche 911 would have lasted before a recall to correct it's tail-happy characteristics? Over the years, the engineers modified the rear suspension, added larger rear wheels/tires, and even added (gasp!) a spoiler to correct the benign handling. All in a time and place where when somebody "lost it" in a 911, there were no ambulance chasers to cry foul.
I, for one (maybe the only one), support the voluntary recall. I don't believe it will lessen the car's value or handling characteristics; Piech, who gave us some truly great cars over the last 25 years, would have had to approve these changes and he is known not to compromise on engineering design.
I love my TTQ, will take it in for its retrofit, and will probably line up in another couple of years for another TT, which will in most likelihood, have grown up in power, stability, and poise, just like its bigger brother, the 911.
