Well everyone, my situation isn't getting any better. I just got off the phone with my salesman, there are no cars out there that are Santorin Blue with Onyx Leatherette within the 13 states he looked for. So I guess that basically means that I might have to do some searching myself(?). I can put in another order for an A4, but it will by a MY2000 one, not a 99.5. Advantages? Disadvantages? I can name a few, but any you guys have in mind are appreciated. I wonder if I should consider another exterior color. Maybe volcano/brilliant black. Or Pelican Blue. Given my situation, what would you A4 owners have done?
Any feedback is welcome and greatly appreciated.

Since the 00's are rolling into production (mine has), why can't you find a dealer that can change an allocated car that is near production to suit your needs. Everything (I think) about a car can be changed up until they enter production (unless I have been mislead). I would seriously consider that, I cahnged my order after it was placed. I ordered June 11th and altered it somewhat about 2 weeks ago and it show up correct on their weekly status reports. Good luck.

I am expecting delivery about end Sept, early Oct. That would shorten your wait a bit if it was built soon. The dealer should get the area rep in on the action and see what they can do for you. BTW, I ordered a 00 Santorin/onyx A41.8tQMS,xenon, conv, weather, nav.

It is my experience that dealers of "hot" selling cars often speak with forked tongue. As an example, I had originally put in an order for an Acura TL (wait list city) that was completely screwed up by Honda/Acura. The dealer (from whom I had purchased two other Acuras) was on my case immediately that they wanted to make amends and keep me as a customer. Their idea of making amends was a whopping $300. discount.
I reclaimed my deposit and recently took advantage of the lease incentives on the A6.

I ranked all of the colors/options in order of my preferance and then hit all of the dealers within 100 miles of my house to see what was in stock (I needed a car so could not wait 2-3 months).
I did not find my 'perfect' car, but ended up with one that had everything that I wanted plus the Bose and Trip Computer. This ended up to be fine since I got a great deal on the car since dealers are always willing to deal on cars on the lot (as a matter of fact, the salesman said that I could take any car on the lot for $800 over invoice or he could order one for $1500 over invoice).
The other added benefit was that I was able to test drive and inspect, in great detail, MY car and drive it off the lot the next day.
Good luck,
Chris

My choices in order of preference were:
1)silver
2)santorin blue
3)black
I ended up with a Santorin Blue and am actually happier about it now since 4 out of every 5 A4's around here are silver.

I love black cars. When clean they are awesome. The major drawback is keeping them clean. I tend to wash my car every weekend so not a big deal - the santorin blue is pretty hard to keep clean as well. Personally, I prefer a light window tint on black cars (25 - 35%). I also prefer the black window trim (1.8T) as opposed to the chrome (2.8) with the black.
Some people might also say that black cars will get too hot in the sun. But since your original choice was santorin blue - the marginal differnce is not great.

Just my $.02. I ordered a '00 1.8TQM that should be here in Oct. One of the big advantages of going with a '00, to me, was the availability of Xenon headlights as an option. Also, just fyi, from what I've heard, the trip computer is now standard. I ordered Ebony Pearl (was Volcano) with Opal Grey cloth. The only options I got were the Xenon's, sport seats and sport wheel. From what I've been able to gather, the Bose isn't worth the money and I'm going to have an aftermarket stereo installed.

I considered Santorin but went with Volcano. I think it looks great -- charcoal gray metalic. Serious looking but not quite black. My 3rd and 4th choices would be Hibiscus then Cactus. Brilliant Black has less appeal for me as it lacks the depth of metallic/mica. I like Pelican more on an Avant, as they are more cute looking, and Pelican is a cute color. Good luck.

the more I like them! I think they look quite classy. It wouldn't show as much dirt as a darker colored car either. If you're interested, the dealer in town has a 2.8Q in white and one in Sable brown. Not sure what options exactly, but I can find out for ya'.
Sorry I didn't help much, but I'm really starting to like the white!

Cowell Motors (aka Audi of Richmond) claims to have 130 A4s in stock. They are in Richmond, B.C. Canada. Just got my 99.5 silver 1.8 with Onyx Leatherette from them a month ago. and if i didnt remember wrong, i saw one Santorin Blue with Onyx Leatherette sitting in the lot. Thats what i wanted... but the swirls on my previous dark green 98 accord made me choose the silver.
personally, i think silver looks good except the fact that most of the A4s i saw in Vancouver are also in silver color. And imagine someone has the same car in same color parking 3 cars from you in your apartment underground parking. Thats really doesnt feel good.
if the Pelican Blue doesnt cost an extra $650 CAD, i would have gone for it.
