Has anyone dealt with Autobraun Dist. in Edmonton for the Wett. chip? Apparently they are the Canadian distributor. I talked to them and they want me to remove my ECU and Fed-Ex it to them. Then they will install a socket (soldering it in I suppose {:-( ), program the new Chip's EPROM to match my ECU's software version, and return it to me along with my old chip. They also sell BMC performance air filters, super sprint exhaust, and other stuff. I just have a little problem yanking out the ECU on my new car and sending it accross the country to a place I've never heard of. I'm really motivated to chip my new 1.8tqms but a little hesitant just the same. Any help appreciated.

I assume this place, Autobraun Dist., is the distributor for Wetterauer chips in Canada? If it is, then you will have no problem doing it. I had to sent my chip to Indiana from NY... No biggie.
With the Wetterauer chip, you will get the socket... and yes, they do have to do some soldering. If they are the distributor for Wetterauer products... they should know what they are doing. Don't worry... removing the ECU is painless.

Of course, you can pay another $400 and get a separate ECU that will probably sit at home and collect dust.
