After having talked to Maund Imports in Austin
last weekend, I visited both Don McGill and Mahan in Houston yesterday...I actually live in Houston
but don't mind picking up the car out of the city if necessary.
I was VERY impressed with the McGill dealership and will most likely work through them after all.
Since they are open tomorrow, I suspect I'll be plopping down my deposit in the morning and beginning my estimated 7-month wait! (The lease on the car I'm driving doesn't end until the first of November, so the timing isn't too bad...really.)
I'm leaning strongly toward a silver/black car (the salesman at McGill thinks that if I order the silver exterior rather than the Aviator Gray, there's a fighting chance that I might be able to pick up a car which someone else backs out on...plus silver IS the "German racing color" after all), but I'm still debated whether to Quattro or not. Besides the obvious handling benefits (and I might be living in North Texas by the end of the year and therefore dealing with "winter" which 23 don't have here in Houston), all 3 dealers suggested that getting the Quattro is an excellent investment in terms of resale someday. Of course, I might NEVER sell the car anyway!!!
Any comments from any of you guys who know Audis better than I do? Many thanks!!
OH...and it's a good thing I saw a "live" TT in Austin last Saturday, but that wasn't possible here in Houston yesterday. I'm keeping eyes open for the couple of guys who have contacted me via the forum to tell me that they are Houston TT owners, but I haven't seen any of you yet...sadly!

This has been a source of debate on this forum for awhile. Seems that most think the value of the Quattro would only be noticed in inclimate weather (snow) and extreme high speed manuevering (are you going to be doing a lot of that?). Otherwise, Quattro weighs more and provides less trunk space. Oh, and costs more. Just my two pennies. I'm sure someone will disagree.........oh and keep looking for my denim blue TT. And when you see me be sure to honk and wave:-)

Thanks for the comments, Sean...and if you see a woman in a dark blue/green Honda waving & honking & flashing her lights like crazy, it's ME!! I'll keep watching for you on the Houston streets! Will let you know what I decide to do, but I'm leaning heavily toward the Quattro. Will "sign up" tomorrow and begin THE WAIT...which will probably seem like gestation period!!

I was #13 on the list for an August delivery of a 180 FWD Silver / Blk TT at Don McGill. Backed out on the 28th. I'm moving / switching jobs and decided to back out. Maybe the 225 next year!
