Well, today was the day, my Denim Blue is now in my driveway. What an incredible car!!! Interior, exterior, everything. I will write more later. Blue leather interior, which at first I reluctantly accepted after they told me I couldn't have black with blue, is stunning. Not at all a bright blue, more of a slate blue. Wow. Bose stereo...wow again! Blew me away. Amazed at how well things fell into hand...reached for where the shifter should be and...it was right there!
Visibility is excellent, height adjustable seats with telescopic wheel puts me in the perfect driving position. Possible weakness in the lumbar support area, but maybe I have overlooked an adjustment.
Lit up the traction control light already on my first on ramp, turned that off quickly. Guess I need a quattro. Handles nicely so far, we'll see when I get closer to the limits.
Pat, my Audi rep, had another customer looking at it while it was being detailed. He wanted to test drive one, but I wasn't about to let him take a spin in mine, especially since I hadn't driven it yet! There was something like 0.7 miles on the odometer when I pulled off the lot.
Can't leave her alone any longer, she wants to hit the road. I predict many happy people in these next couple of weeks!

Congratulations, now you can post a real picture of your TT in the registry! I know that a few people don't like the blue interior, but I do. I think that it has custom, Quattro GMBH kind of look to it. Enjoy, and be sure to share a few comments with us deprived (or is it depraved?) west coast types as soon as we can pry the steering wheel from your hands.
Just got back. Speaking of steering wheels, Brad, what a wheel! I put a Momo Corse wheel on my last car, and I was afraid Audi's "sport" steering wheel would be a poor substitute. Not so. It is only slightly less beefy, and no less pleasant to grip.
My complaints about lumbar support were remedied when I backed off on the seat height adjustment. I enjoyed the commanding view, and being 5' 8" I had plenty of head room to spare, but it angles the seat cushion closer to horizontal, and offers much less support. I am now content to sit a bit lower in the cockpit, and I am much more comfortable.

about your Bose stereo. Have you noticed whether the Balance & Fader work? The Neiman Marcus prototype I sat in didn't, and I want to verify that the problem was remedied.
Thanks, and have fun,
John

John,
Good question, I was going to consult the manual tonight to see if I could find that out. When I press the "fader" button, it gives me a "fade off" message, or something like that. Is that what the NM one did? Hmm...still sounds great. I didn't try the balance button.
Dave,
Thanks for your quick response.
I think the NM car's fader cut out the volume entirely when fading from front to back. However, t's been a while--all I remember is that something about the fader didn't work. I assumed it was just a pre-production glitch, or something. Let us know what you find!
John
PS--Other than the fader problem, I was very happy with the Bose's performance. I will never dump thousands into an aftermarket stereo (again) if I can help it.
I thumbed through the audio manual, and there was a small note at the bottom of one of the pages that said that with the Bose system, when the fader button is pressed, it will say "Fade off," indicating that this funtion is disabled. It doesn't say that you can "enable" it, so I guess we are to assume that Bose knows best, and it's not for us to mess with? Strange.

I have had Bose audio systems in two previous cars. In my experience, Bose does not allow you to control fade, only balance.
