Saw it Thursday night at Bev. Hills Audi...put down my deposit for a 225hp version in Black... with maybe the red int. from the NM version. It may or maynot be avail...and will cost extra but will be worth it. The car has one of the best driving positions I've ever been in for 5' 10". The build quality, if it's like my A4, will be better than a 993 Porsche. And this is a car that will be even more fun to drive. I had a '95 993 and a '93 RS America. They just really weren't that much fun in the real world...more about "what if..." than something to enjoy. And I was really turned off my the number of quality things that I spotted in the Porsche...it was more like a Maserati Biturbo than a Mercedes. My A4 1.8t is far more enjoyable...get to use all the powers and all the rpms without being a leathal speeds on public roads. I think the TT 225hp w/ the 6 speed is going to knock 15 to 20 thousand off the resale value of every Porsche out there. At BH Audi I met and talked with Freeman Thomas...and a guy from Porsche who was involved in designing the Boxter. We all agreed that if Porsche doesn't want Audi to eat their lunch, Porsche should stop playing the Ferrari game and start thinking about a TT "fighter" something light and agile...harking back to the 356 in size and looks...w/ a two liter engine that revs and revs, in a truly sub $40k price, not like the Boxster, which is the most over priced car since the original Miata.

John,
What did the dealer say about delivery on the 225BHP Quattro version ? My dealer has no solid info on colors, available options and dates.

Brad...I know the red int. is only for the 100 NM versions, but I've asked the dealer to look among the customers who don't want that interior to see if I can trade them out of it. Hey it's worth a try.
Re: the 225...the initial three colors, silver, blue, and black...and the same combination of interiors is all that will be offered in the first year. Of course this means that just at the first ones are rolling off the line, other colors will be coming available. I'm going for black on black...would prefer the red int. or even a brown/tan...but black on black ain't bad. And it's the color combo Freeman Thomas has on his TT. 17" wheels will be available...maybe standard...the usual headlamps...sound system... partial or full leather stuff will be optional, though the dealers will probably order the cars fully loaded. Expect the dealers to be asking $40 to $42 thou...which is still a lot better deal than a used 993.

John:
Not to beat the point to death, but I'm told that the red interior will only be available in the Neiman Marcus edition. The NM Nappa leather is not just a different color of leather, but a much finer grade too. It's not the same as what you would purchase as an option (although I'm sure that the optional leather will be very nice as well).
Brad
