I have a 98 A4 with black leatherette standard seats. Is it worth getting black/leather/power seats from a '99 for $900? Would a dealer buy my seats for parts? Opinions greatly appreciated. Thanks.

$900 for leather/power seats seems fair. "Aftermarket" leather upgrades for cars not normally so equipped seem to run $1000 to 1500. For less than this you would be getting leather and power as well.

But this aftermarket kit includes both front and back...I assume you will be changing only the fronts. Consider that the rears will not match.

So, maybe.

I have done this and the 2.8 power seats with lumbar support are MUCH more comfortable. I am trading my car in and I will sell you my leather seats with installation information if the other deal falls through.
