Making a decision on a job offer in Austin,TX and was curious about Austin area A4 enthusiats. Are there many A4's around the Austin area and what is the local dealership like? Any meetings or club events?

Believe it or not, Texas is Quattro country too! Austin, Dallas, Houston and San Antonio is marked with a generous number of Audi enthusiast(mostly A4's and TT's). The Quattro Club Texas Chapter is in the works as well. We're looking at joint track events with Porsche, some getogethers, car shows, etc. We should come out as one of the bigger Audi chapters by the end of the year. From where are you coming from?

I live in Dallas but that has not stopped me from driving to Austin once a month for a meeting with what used to be The Central Texas Audi Brethren. Also, I have recently met with a group in San Antonio calling themselves the South Texas Audi Gruppe.
If I had a job offer in Austin, I'd take it! Not only for the Audi groups, but for the incredible scenery and the outdoor activities.

I see a few A4's on the road here every week (not a lot, but they're out there).

The local Audi dealership is Charles Maund Imports. Thus far I've really only had experience on the purchasing side of the A4 ownership equation. The Audi Sales Specialist (CM sells other makes as well) is Gordon Spencer and I found him to be good to work with - no pressure tactics, direct and helpful. I don't really have any hardcore experience with the service department yet (anyone else?).

By the way, Austin has a lot more to offer in the way of live music than you could imagine as well as a laid back feel and a big university to keep things young. Hope you like it if you decide to move here. Oh yeah, the hill country back roads make for some nice drives too.

Agree about Gordon Spencer of Maund. Bought mine thru him. Have not had any service experience with Maund service other than having the license plated put on.

Currently I live in Shreveport. I have done a good bit of travel throughout Texas (family, friends, etc.) which is one reason I've been trying to find work around the Austin area. I'll know for sure by middle of next week if I'm going to take the job. Right now its looking real good that I'll be in Austin by the end of September. Hope to get a chance to meet some of you guys and talk cars.

I just moved from Austin to Los Angeles. I too bought my A4 2.8 from Gordon Spencer at Charles Maund. I was very impressed with the sale. Talk to Cindy in service. I had mine in a few times for routine maintenance before I left. Maybe you can sweet-talk them into letting you use on of their 99 Camry loaner cars while yours is in the shop!
