<center><img src="http://www.jamielittle.co.uk/jamiespace/MISC%20PICS/Stooshmobile.jpg"></center><p>Greetings all. This is my first post on audi world although i have been using the info here for a while.

Ok, so yesterday i noticed a puff of dust coming from the airvents as the aircon started. It was acompanied by a dry musty smell not unlike the usual smell from the aircon only stronger. I popped the bonnet and noticed a light brown splatter pattern to the right hand side of the engine bay covering the coolant bottle and surrounding areas. its as far down as the oil filter and as far back as the bulk head. I know its not coolant as i have dealt with that problem last year. I have washed the engine bay down to see if it re appears. I have read some posts about the drain plugs and have checked for wet carpet and to see if the water is draining properly. that all seems fine.
has anyone had or heard of this problem? I think the dust from the vents may be the key to diagnosing this problem.

Splatters underhood and puff of dust may not be related. If the fan or air door got jarred, it may shake some accumulated dust off the parts.

Thanks Jazbo. i did have a look and they are very dirty but not damaged. I then realised that the dust was from waxing the car with a automatic polisher. I recon the dried wax dust got into the filters. The brown splatter is still a mystery tho.
Then i checked the pollen filter prices....
i couldnt believe it. Audi want £31.81 EACH!!
even my oem supplier wants £28.
I feel an airline blow out in my mists!
