I just placed my order for my A4 and opted for the sunroof. However I've noticed people referring to their "Moonroofs" when there is no such option in the dealers book. Are these the same things?... I hope

are metal. nt

I've had cars with roofs that were clear / tinted glass and "popped up" only, or actually came off the car (MR2), those were sunroofs. These traditionally didn't come with any other covering inside the glass panel other than the tint, so it 'let the sun in' all the time.
A moonroof typically means that the entire unit slides inside the car, and there is a covering underneath the glass portion to "match" the interior of the car, and provide more shade. That's what is on the Audi's- pops up and slides back into the roof of the car, and has a sliding panel that matches the car's interior.
It's called by both names now, as the first type of sunroofs isn't commonly found on newer cars.
Now if we could have an A4 or S4 CONVERTIBLE, that would be sweeeettt!

My $.02 today...

A moonroof is typically a piece of glass, where a sunrood is normally just a sliding piece of metal. The only way I've ever seen the A$ is with a moonroof.

A sunroof only lets in sunlight and a moonroof only lets in moonlight!
