Archives are still not working properly (bad or missing links).
I've been to Autotoys and Clair and I'm wondering about customer service and the differences between the 8 and 6 disc changer. I understand that I only need 4 screws to mount the changer in the rear of the Avant.
Please e-mail me if you have info as this topic seems to have been covered here already.
Thanks a bunch!

On the day I picked up my 99.5 Avant, I purchased the 6-disc Panasonic changer from my dealer for $250.75. The dealer included the screws for free. My price with tax in Maryland, was about the same as Clair's base without shipping. Send me an email if you want more information on this purchase. I do not know much about the 8-disc changer.
The important point about installation was that it took longer to unpack the changer from its box than it did to install the device in the bracket that comes with the Avant. The installation was easy and intuitively obvious.
There may be one adjustment on the changer you need to check prior to its installation - be sure that the locking screws on each side of the changer are set at the Horizontal position.
1) Remove the cover door from the cargo compartment.
2) Remove the 3 Phillips screws that secure the bracket in place.
3) Slide the changer into the back side of the bracket until the screw holes in the changer align with the holes in the bracket.
4) Use the 4 machine screws to secure the changer in the bracket.
5) Plug the connector into the back of the changer. (The connector is a thick round plug that is covered with dark gray foam, and should be visible near the back of the wheel well.)
6) Reinsert the bracket into its former position.
7) Load up your CDs, and the changer should be accessable via the MODE button on the head unit.
