I took my 99 A4 in for service at Anderson-Behel in San Jose CA for 15,000 mile service, and they replaced the water pump, cam seals, and valve cover gasket. I saw no leaks of coolant or oil. Given that this service department can't even change my oil right (always overfill), I don't trust them. Are they just pumping warranty money out of Audi?

I'd appreciate hearing any input.

I just brought mu 98 A4 for 10K service and had also valve cover gasket replaced. Service rep said that the oil leak is invisible as the oil drips into a pan.

I had the cam seals on my 98.5 replaced at my first service (Dec. 98). I didn't notice any leaking either (at least no dripping on the ground) but the service tech. explained that there was some oil that had accumlated under the timing belt cover and on the belly pan. Upon closer inspection, I could see some residue on the cover but nothing significant. All has been well up until recently when I noticed a single drop of oil on the ground under the car. Again, nothing signficant and I haven't had to add any oil since my last service in April but I'll definitely bring it up with Audi on my next service appointment.
