Hey guys, I'm new to this board and found a nice 01 and 02 S8 that I'm looking to get in. But with only 360 under the hood its an embarrassment to all the modded M5's and XJR's running around my town. I'm wondering if the S8 from those years can be upgraded to a Stage 3 Turbo kit as much of the S4's are. Let me know guys, thanks.

There are no kits, tho. They are **all** home-brew, and one-off.

There are no legitimate aftermarket superchargers, but there IS a kit in the works.

who will be creating it? do you have any info on it or is it just assumption that someone will finally come out with one for the S8? thanks

or you could buy a RS6 and then mod that!

If you are serious about this, then root out a local high quality fabrication shop and splash out the cash for a custom turbo and ECU chip. It *has* been done and is not rocket science; it just needs highly skilled technical labor.

If you don't mind paying a bit more for Racing gas, then your options are even brighter.

I have seen a turbo mounted close to the muffler on a corvette, wonder if could be a wise solution for heat and space under the hood?
and super charge or turbo which is best?

... they actually REPLACE the muffler, at the back of the car, with a turbo! All reviews Ive seen of this system are positive, and it's no vaporware .. it's been around for a couple years and has dozens of vehicle applications.

This setup completely deletes the problem of under-hood heat and space requirements. Some vehicles don't even require an intercooler with that setup, since there is a long run from the rear of the vehicle to the engine manifold, to bleed off a lot of the air charge's heat.

screw that...i'd like to have some extra bank left for performance mods, so custom jobs are mostly likely out of the question. I'm just sick of all these ivy leaguers with daddy's money in M machines and AMG's...

muffler housing. It would be wicked cool to have a stealthy looking turbo kit like that. Plus, it could help with people who drive their cars in rain/snow such as ourselves.....hmmmmm if I had a S8, thats exactly what I would do!

I'm thinking that the lag is significant in that thing. For all of that intake tubing from the turbo to the throttle body to be pressurized enough to build boost, would take some time, unless you are in a drag racing scenario where you are maintaining the boost at WOT on short bursts. On a daily basis or a road course scenario, I'll bet it would hurt the performance by decreasing throttle response, almost dangerous in a street setting when the boost hits suddenly.

There's a lot less area inside the air feed piping than you would expect, according to them.

Since they don't use intercoolers, there is the SAME or LESS area inside their air tube than a front-mounted turbo with a bigass intercooler.

Customer testimonials talk about rock climbing trucks, etc .. not just drags.
