Hello all. I posted a message yesterday about getting an A4 or Lincoln LS V6. Well, I went to my local Audi dealer and took a 1.8TQ manual w/ sport package for a short spin. I waited around for a while till someone helped me. I guess they didn't think I was a serious buyer, I had jeans and sneakers on (this was a yuppie area) and look younger than I am (26). Anyway, I'm sold on German engineering!!! Bye Bye Mustang, hello Audi! I have to say that for a car with 150hp, it felt pretty good. I was so impressd with the quality of this car! I can't belive how cheap it was too! The dealer will be looking in area for the color I want (the one I drove was laser red, didn't care for the color that much). A few questions:

How do I know if this is a '99 or '99.5? What's the difference? Should I wait till October and get a 2000 model? (I really can't wait though). Think I'll schedule another test drive... the 1st was too short :)

You can find the rest of the gory details in terms of differences in the archives (if they are working now).

Congrats on deciding on one FINE automobile.
The Lincoln would have been a bore!

You will love the Quattro. The overall feel and composure of this car is miles ahead of the Stang. The only think I do miss is the "kick in the pants" from the ole' V8 (I had the 5.0) and there is nothing like 300 ft/lbs at 3200 RPM.

However, the A4 is by far the best car I've driven and I am really tempted to go S4 when my lease is up. BTW, get the sport package IMO it is worth the money.

I belive this is a 99.5 then becuase I saw the cup holder in the top right of the dash and commented it was an odd place for a cup holder. Thanks for all the replys!

I currently have the 4.6 w/ a 2.73 rear, so the acceleration of the line was never impressive. I'm not a stop light drag racer anyway and I think the Audi's power will be fine. If I need more power I suppose I'll chip it.

As far as the Sport Package, that's the main option I wanted, alon with the sun roof.
