Anyone know where I can urgently get a replacement 1997 A8 Fuel Pump.
Mine apparently is siezed and the dealer price for a conversion kit is almost $600.
Many thanks

For one, make sure it is not just the fuel pump relay.
Two... make sure that any shop that works on it has done an A8 pump before. They are TRICKY suckers because the fuel tank is like a pair of saddlebags instead of the traditional tank.
Three... even after it is done, be VERY careful around the last 1/3 of the tank. If it wasn't done just right, you can't access that part of the gas.
Four... make sure the "adaption" is (re)set in the ECU when the pump is replaced. In my case, it wasn't set and the car said I had 1/4 tank when it was really empty. BTDT and since we didn't know the tank was really empty, it was flatbedded to the shop, etc., etc. Hassle and a half.
IIRC from January, the only available pumps were from the dealer. Get an estimate from both the indy shop and the dealer. If the shop marks up dealer parts above retail, it might be just as cheap to go to the dealer.

Found a great place to that was eventually willing to remanufacture my pump for around $120.
If you have the same problem and cannot stomach the $700 from the dealer and like me, found nothing available on the web then try www.directauto.com and talk to Pat - he will remember me. Phone# is 800 611 6730 x1002.
I went through the whole circle (costing rental car charges throughout) and ended up with a pump out of a scrap car in Utah. It ran but struggled to start so I managed to get Pat to remanufacture. It runs great now.....
