My 98 A4Q Avant went in for the 15k svc. today: they had the instrument panel in stock for the common dimmed out display fix; however, upon return of the car I noticed: 1) the oil temp. gauge does not work: sits at 150 degrees and doesn't move; and 2) it seems to me that the tach is reading higher for a given speed than before, i.e., not shifting til it reads 4,000 rpm though it sounds more like 3,000 to me, and running up to what reads 6,500 rpm under moderately brisk acceleration from a toll plaza.
I got the following readings in 5th gear: can anyone with a 2.8 Tip confirm/compare their readings?
60mph=3,050 rpm; 65 mph=3,350rpm; 70mph 3,600 rpm. I didn't write down what they were before, but I think they were lower.
I'll be in touch w/ the dealer tomorrow, of course, but wonder if anyone has data I can compare.
seems to me that something was not hooked up properly when the new instrument cluster was installed. Thx.
