The jury is still out on the octane boosters though. Most people here seem to think the 104+ is safe to use, but that's the only one. I use it and have not had any problems.
Charles
Doing this to a Honda Spree may be fine, but not to an Audi!!!
You can't be a penny pincher and own this car. Maybe you and Hans should start another forum for your mopeds.
Have some more respect for your car. You are operating an engine with a 5 valve head. Only one other automaker is using this and thats Ferrari. Do you see what I'm getting at. This is a very percise piece of machinery. It demands that you give it more respect than feeding it 87 octane fuel, so what if you add a booster. That like Sergi Federov eating Mcdonalds every day and saying it's okay because he drank Gatoraid with it. It dosen't work, man. Thats not right. When you host a party, you don't serve your friends O'douls with a shot of JD in it, do you?
Look, I'm not trying to insult you or put you down. I have respect for the fact you have an A4, it's a very nice car. You have to respect that as well, USE THE PROPER FUEL!!!

I think an intercooler is just plumbed, no electronics, etc., to futz with. Does that make it an easy DIY ? Anyone have info / or FAQ on replacing the stock unit ?
Donnie ( TAP Sport IC on the way )

the intercooler that came with my STG 7 (front mount) was no where near a simple install... actually, it wouldn't even fit behind the stock front bumper. In addition, all the plumbing required custom fabricating...
Having read your post again, it seems that you are getting the side mount version which I'm not sure about. Anyhow, good luck with your install..

I do believe that TAP is pricey...but if someone doesn't like it...they can go somewhere else...free world. After actually visiting Ivor at TAP and talking to him for about 2 hours I have a new level of respect for him. But I understand that others have varying opinions.
Steve S.
97 2.8QM
Talked with Spearco folks yesterday...they said they only sell the intercooler cores, not the "ready to install" units...comments??? (nt)

I went to TAP yesterday with my friend Darin, nice place, nice cars, nice guy (Ivor). I got a chance to see this intercooler upgrade that he sells. Looked pretty cool, much bigger than stock, but will fit in the stock location. I talked with Ivor for a bit about venting the back wall of the intercooler so the air can pass into the wheel well. I did this mod, and was glad to see that he had done this also to his racing A4.
As for TAP being a rip off, I didn't think his prices were that high, and he is one of the few tuners in America that has an active racing program, so if he makes a profit, it goes to racing. Sounds fair to me.
Christian J. Long
That is the last time I invite you on a road trip to Homosasa...the "?" capital of the world.
I was a Dick's Audi Performance today (with Corey S) and we talked about that bigger intercooler...it gets rid of that plastic piece too. Dick is Ivor's West Coast Distributor for TAP. BTW, when is the big move to Hotlanta?
Lastly, did you see Ivor's "new" S4...it is no longer at AoA's lobby...I wonder where it went? Replaced with a TT at AoA.
Steve S.
97 2.8QM
