You may want to check out Pro-Imports. They're in Shady Grove, but will give you a ride to and pick you up from Shady Grove Metro. They are not strictly a tranny shop, but I'm sure they can handle anything you might need done to the A8 tranny.

I have yet to find a decent tranny-only shop in this area. :(

I'm curious if you took yours in for work.

I did a oil change myself (not bad once you figure out / get tools) due to limp mode - However unlike some of the other posts mine works fine other than feeling like it's sticking it in 3rd and 2nd at the same time sometimes. Changing fluid had it perfect (FAR better than it was when I bought the car 10k miles ago, which seemed fine then) - But after about 50 miles it started acting up slightly (not as bad).
