Starting out after the car (1998 1.8TQM) has sat in freezing weather for more than 10 hours, I hear a moaning sound coming from the rear-end. It starts once I get up to 30mph, lasts only 5-10 seconds, and doesn't come back until the next cold morning (or evening after work). It sounds as if I have big old snow tires on back there (I have the stock GoodYear all-season), or the hub-bearing grease is too cold. It seems to be unrelated to engine speed, HVAC, or alignment of the sun, moon, and earth. I do let the engine idle for about a minute before taking off when the temp is below 20F, just to let the oil get flowing and keep it below 3000 RPM until it gets to operating temp.
I had the dealer (HBL) check out the rear end yesterday when I was in for my 5K service. Of couse, they found nothing wrong. Is this a case of "they all do that", or am I just paranoid.
Kosta

Yeah, my 99.5TQMS started having troubles with resume and now with setting too. The dealer has a new switch on order, but I think he's just guessing.
