My 99 A8 like MANY others has the hunting and thumping problems. Two weeks ago I had it recoded to the Euro code 0011. It was great! Drove much more responsive, down shifted nicely when I firmly accelerated and I swear 90% of the hunting was gone. Wow!! I could have lived with this. HOWEVER in seemed like it was slowly returning to its old ways as I continued to drive it. I've probably got 500 miles on it since the recoding. I drove to Chicago for the weekend and put on some rough city driving. My tranny now has turned to CRAP!(I'll spare the most accurate word). It's so bad I don't even want to drive it any more. Now I'm really despirate. May try the Mobil 1 change. Any up dates there? I just can't understand why the recoding initially helped so much and then it changed back.

say for sure. I bought my car with a hunting tranny, but after the recoding it got much worse. Try to recode to the original setting.
