View Full Version : Whistling brakes...

I recently came back from a trip into the mountains and began to notice something VERY annoying.

At highway speeds (65+) if I'm in a slight bend in the road, my front brakes start to squeal. Once it starts, minor adjustments to the wheel will make the squeal appear or disappear.

I took it to the dealer and they weren't able to find anything out of the ordinary. They suggested that I come back and take the technician out for a spin. Problem is, hard to hit highways speeds in LA so I'm not sure if it's easy to re-produce. Every time now when I am driving 65+ I'm able to re-produce the noise.

I've searched the archives and I'm not sure if anyone has ever experienced this before.

I don't know if your front brakes have them, but mine did.....

Try pulling your dust shield back away from the rotors, they might be very close and the additional load on the suspension could be causing them to rub on the rotors when turning.

It's free and easy....might have to jack the car up to get to them.

If you have them, they are probably just on the bottom back side.

I think I saw your car at the strip mall on Park Granada. Was that you?
