Have been searching this site for ideas on an upgrade for my 2002 S8. I'd prefer a DVD based head unit vs CD stock in the car--and maybe a DVD based NAV system with the screen in the ctr console.
Remember recently reading someone's upgrade with pics etc etc--but just can't locate it again.
I assume that the A8 and S8 configurations are identical in this regard.
Any ideas---direction on this?

I answered my Q--finally found Paul W's info sites on the NAV plus system.
Still wondering if there is a DVD platform solution---vs CD.

<img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/38883/2003_early_04_093.t.jpg"> I have just returned from an 8-9 hr drive to deposit the kiddies for a week of camp;) and the driver of good choice was the A8. The "D" nav+ worked fabulous and being able to pinpoint my location meant foregoing paper maps altogether.
And yes that is an ipod in the pic and I cannot say enough about how this just bangs out hit song after hit song. I should also state that the nav+ stereo that it plays through seems way, way better than the stock unit that was removed. Bass tones rumble way low and the music IMHO (even though it has mp3's of varying quality) sounds totally distortion free to my ears.
Of course all this gadgetry has to take a bcak seat to the A8 cruisemobile which made the trip effortless. Cruised 80-85 (in a 65) most all the way. I have only stock suspension which is a bit GM ish, but not bad at all IME. Would go der HnR for any hard driving. Spacers might be good to fill some fender gap too.
These are great cars... butofcourse!
