After getting my Amaretto/Ebony A8L last week I've already run into some problems and its staying overnight with the dealer. Here's the scoop:

1) Parking Brake Light came on after 40 miles of driving in the mountains. I push the parking brake to "off" position. Nothing happens. I pull over and put it in park and do the same. Nothing happens. I pull it "on" and then turn it "off" and the light goes away and doesn't come back. Dealer has emailed Audi re. this issue. They haven't heard of this before.
2) I drive for 5 more miles and it says the rear left light is out. I pull over and look around the car.... no light seems to be out. This indicator wont go away no matter what I try to do. The dealer says I do have a light that is out and has ordered a replacement.
3) MMI wont automatically pop up when car is started or go down when the car is turned off. It used to do this before but I manually adjusted it once or twice and I think I got it confused somehow. Dealer says he can't reproduce the problem and it always works properly for him. So this one looks OK.
4) MMI wont read my CD label and titles even though the "display CD label" setting is checked. I'm not sure if I have to name all my CDs for this to work or if they will pull the tracks off of the CD. Dealer is looking into this.
5) Creak in the front part of the dash at highway speed that is too annoying to ignore. Couldn't isolate the source.

I'll keep you guys posted as things develop.

Not all CDs automatically name themselves. On a post a few days ago, someone mentioned that Sony CDs do. Most do not. On CDs that do NOT automatically name the CD and tracks, you can manually name the CD (but not the tracks).

Good luck with your car. I've been pretty lucky with mine and have enjoyed it immensely. Keep us posted on the progress with yours.

especially this late in the build season. Audi is fairly good at isolating these problems and coming out with a fix and if not, they replace the baby AND the bath water!! My MMI was replaced at 3000 miles because the screen would not open on ignition. When I picked up the car from service after having the unit replaced, the "new" MMI exhibited the same behavior. They are "looking into it"! I have a feeling that his may be an ongoing issue. I am wondering if the noise in the dash is the same one that Mr. Ricco has experienced. His dash has been replaced! XZLRB covered the CD issue and #1 is a new one for me. I look forward to your future posts on these issues. Good luck!

I was thinking that I might not have the right kinds of disks. Its good to hear that confirmed.

So not only do I have to name each CD but I have to name each track as well? Sounds like a lot of work especially if you have a lot of CDs.

Thanks,
Milos

I don't believe there is a way to tell on the case when you buy one if it is encoded or not.
The MMI does make it quick and easy to manually enter, besides it's a one shot deal anyway. Do it once and never do it again.

If you want to burn CD w/ CD-Text info (Cd Name & Song Names) use Easy CD & DVD Creator 6 (PC) or Toast 6 (Mac) from Roxio. Just check CD Text option.

discovered a broken rivet was the culprit.

Songs will still appear as "Track 1," etc.

Ok here is the scoop. They have ordered a new component that senses the parking brake that should arrive tomorrow. They said that Audi told them that if this component is faulty that other MMI issues can result so they feel it best to replace it.

As far as the creak in the dash goes they said it only needed some lubricant. That sounds interesting....

Will keep you guys posted as things develop.

solution (through 200 years of German engineering) was to place a piece of felt (used as a noun, not a verb) between the leather pad and the metal shelf that touches the windshield. In Mr. Plum's case, that did help; but did eliminate. Just got the part order they are replacing; 4E1-857-003-D-24A "DASHBOARD". In my case, one could simply lay a hand on the dash pad (in the right place) and noise would immediately cease. You may have another "creaking" you are dealing with.

with one hand on the dash(using felt as a verb!).

I am using Musicmatch 8 and for the life of me can't figure out any settings that allow any burned CDs to be detected by the MMI. Having said that I have NEVER found a CD that the MMI recognizes! Has anyone figured out a Muscimatch setting that may work?
