Dear 'R:<p>We understand that you have had less than a great experience with your A4. Thanks for your repeated opinion. Can I respectfully ask you to <b>stop</b> antagonizing other people here at A4.Org? It seems that you like to find "problem" posts and reply with the same thing OVER and OVER. You certainly have the right to voice your opinion, but I would be interested in seeing you work towards finding solutions rather than simply bad-mouthing the A4, Audi, AoA and all of us owners every chance you get.<p>Thank you in advance,<br>Jason

J'<p>I find it interesting that you seem to find a problem with my responding to the numerous posting of other folks who are or have had problems with there A4.<p>It is inherently misleading for you to encourage a one sided dialogue on your forum. Many rely on this page for honest and uncensured information.<p>I will encourage you to lend yourself to a more open and truthful discussion on this page. To that end I will respectfully support and respond to those folks who have or are experiencing disenchantment (problems) with their purchase.<p>Jason, you have provided a public forum for discussion of the A4; lets keep it honest. Those of us who have made this purchase and are dissatisfied with the purchase of their A4 have a voice. To that end we have as much a right to honestly express our experiences and disappointments as those with equally positive experiences.<p>I believe your posting to me sends the wrong message. It is hopeful that the readers of this page and those that participate in this forum will realize that truthful dialogue is more valuable and informative than a one sided censured discussion.<p>R-<br>98.5 2.8 QMS, Leather, Trip, Moonroof, ect. (And, disappointed owner!!!)<p>BTW, your response is similiar to that of A of A, I don't want to know!? Interesting?

All Jason's asking is that there is no need to post the same thing OVER and OVER. You're having problems...FINE. I'm not and neither are alot of other people. Please don't think that just because you jump off a bridge, everyone else will...<p>And lastly...stop whining like a little BITCH! You sound pathetic.

Good observations I didn't look into.
I called AAA, and it is a completely comprehensive plan that uses Reliance as a third party insurance company. They cover every single part of the car, no matter what breaks down, except normal wear and tear like tires, wiper blades, etc. They give you five days of loaners cars at $30 per day, and you can go to any shop. AAA stands behind the warranty 100%. They have a $50 deductible and it costs $3000. This is for the 2.8 quattro. The 1.8 is more money. I didn't even ask, but there is about a $300 difference in price between the 1.8 and 2.8.
I called Warranty Gold, and for a comparable plan, using two third party insurance companies, (it is called the Diamond Plan, but with no deductible), it covers everything the AAA plan does. It does NOT cover wear and tear items as you mentioned (wear and tear to me are wiper blades, tires, brake pads, muffler, battery, etc). Neither of them cover wear and tear. For the 2.8 quattro for 7/100,000 for the Y2K model, I was quoted $2670. For the 1.8 model, it was about $300 more.
All in all, Warranty Gold is about $300 less than AAA with no deductible, with the same coverage. I believe that AAA has the better name. It all depends on which one you feel more comfortable with. Actually, I never did ask AAA if they have a '0' deductible plan. If it is like Warranty Gold, it would probably be about $100 more.
I think I will go with AAA, I feel more comfortable with the notoriety of AAA. Thanks for your observations. I didn't think of them.

I don't mean wear and tear items like those you describe. I'll gladly pay for those rather than pay for them thru a big premium.
What I meant, and what Warranty Gold does cover, is failure of a covered part due to wear and tear, rather than a "breakdown" (sudden failure). This is very important and significant coverage.
If a suspension part, or engine part, etc., or brakes, breaks suddenly, due to defect, etc., that is a "breakdown" of a covered part. If, however, your part is just worn out after 68k miles and you have a 70k contract, if it does not cover failure due to wear and tear, you're out of luck. These are many of the part failures you're going to see and want reimbursement for under your warranty, not sudden failures; but most contracts will not cover them under the wear and tear exclusion.
Wear & tear refers to the failure mode/cause, not the type of part covered.
Have you looked into Reliance and its underwriting status and ratings? What does AAA mean when they say they'll stand behind it? I'm not trying to be difficult, I'm curious and I'm a lawyer so I see weasel phrases like this used all the time to part people from their money up front, but leaving them no legal recourse if there's a problem later.
Anyway, my main point is that you need to look into the wear and tear exclusion (failures due to normal wear and tear as the cause), not the wear and tear items (parts that normally wear out over time). If the AAA plan covers those, I'd like to know more about it (specifically which AAA office is offering this, and a contact).
You may want to get a copy of the actual contract (I always do before I sign it) and look carefully if there's an "exclusions" section, and the definition of "breakdown" or "failure"... I think there are still some gaps between what I'm trying to describe and what you're describing AAA as telling you. You must read the big and the fine print on the actual agreement: that's what they'll rely on later.

From the Warranty Gold FAQ:
" How does the Warranty Gold contract differ from others? Our service contracts have no wear and tear exclusions. Simply stated, if a listed component breaks or wears out it is covered and you are protected."
In contrast, the other contracts I've seen (I've had 3, only one of which ended up being financially justified) covered parts that break, not parts that wear out. Hope that helps.

I can E-mail you a copy of the Warranty Gold Diamond Plan contract. They E-Mailed it to me. The AAA contract, from what they said to me, seems exactly the same, but there is no '0' deductible and it is slightly more expensive. On the Warranty Gold, it is $700 more expensive for the 1.8, because of the turbo. They gave me the wrong price initially. It is really $2560 for the Y2K 2.8. E-Mail me if you would like to discuss.

that's quoting you these contracts. Their offers seem very localized, which is why I am wary of the "AAA backs it" claim. In the past when these offers have been mentioned, it's a specific AAA office that's marketing it. What AAA region or office are you dealing with? Thanks.
