So yesterday, I was at a stop light waiting for it to turn green when a blue WRX pulls up next to me. He revs his engine and just to have fun I rev mine, just to show him the sound of a big coffee can exhaust is nothing compared to a delightful 330 HP V8. So the light turns green and he speeds off thinking i wanted to race. Meanwhile, I take off leasurely knowing that he'd probably beat me off the line, plus I don't really condone stop light street racing. So, once I'm up to the 55 mph speed limit I catch up to him. He looks at me grinning like he just got laid. So we're neck and neck and I decided to show him that at 55 mph my car would kill him. Noticing no one else was around (it was around 12 am), I floor it and leave him in the dust. I was just about to hit the next red light when up he comes and cuts me off. The light turns green and he proceeds to fly off and I thought this was the last I'd see of him. So, I again leasurely take off. Finally, I get to my destination (24 Hour Fitness) when I see the same WRX in the parking lot and the driver was exiting the car. I walk up to him (and he looked somewhat ready for a fight) and say a few things about watching who cuts off like that these days, all in a joking voice. He then says "Ha, all that money for a car and it cant beat a 22k WRX." I shook my head and walked into the gym. After my workout, I got in my car, turned on the seat cooling and massage and snickered all the way home. Now, I'm a young guy (my service adviser once said "You know, you're not really in the age demographic for this car.") with a nice car so I guess that attracts things like this.

The other day, a fellow in a GTI was checking my car out at the gas station and I asked him if he wanted to sit in it or even go for a ride. I always love meeting other car nuts like myself. I'm proud of my car, but I'm not arrogant.

I'm trying to convince my old man to split the cost of the R32 and either HPA stage 1 or 2 with me and start going to the track as a bonding thing. So far he likes the idea but I haven't really told him the final cost. I wonder if HPA is going to do something like the R32 with the new V6 TT, any rumors??

I'd like to see that 3.2litre with 2 turbos in a B6 RS4 variant. That would be nuts to get something like that from the factory....

http://www.hpamotorsports.com/home.htm</a

One word...Sweet!
I had a similar experience in a different time: I in my parents' '68 Toronado and some guy in a mid-70's GTO. He appeared upset, to say the least, that he not only couldn't get away from me after challenging me on 580 (the MacArthur Fwy in Oakland) but really bent girlfriend in the car, of course) when I just moved away from him at (what the barrel-style speedometer said was) 140mph. Now I was a stupid teenager to do that, and I never quite believed the speedo, but the story was repeated with a 'cuda and some mustang before that Toro finally succumbed and we got a 900 Turbo.
Gee - I guess it was more than "one word".
