The car was surprisingly stable and easy to handle going flat out in second gear (50-60 mph) sideways through medium turn on snow and ice.

I love my Quattro.

Your A8 sounds good... Those passers by must have thought you were nuts!

please remember that someone here recently bent their upper and lower control arms out of shape by "trying my A8 in the snow" when they kissed the curb too hard.

Don't play for more cash than you can afford to hand the reapair man.

When I got up this morning, it hadn't started snowing yet, so I had to go to work. There was only 2 inches of powdery snow at the Boeing plant today, so it wasn't bad. It's been fun driving around, not too many folks are out. Lot's of humor wathing the tv coverage this evening. There was a classic moment with a reporter talking about how bad a highway was w/ a live feed of the trouble spot behind him. In the background, a car had just been pushed back onto the highway and a person was running after it. When the person takes a Wylie Coyote header into the snow, the crew at the tv station burst out laughing, drowning out the reporter.

All this kinda reminds me of Dallas when we get freezing rain. At least we don't have the big hills.

The D3 boys need to meet it. My youngest son owns a video production company and has shot many auto commercials we have all seen on TV. I will volunteer him to shot the video and I will volunteer to drive the D3. All we need is for you to volunteer your D3. When is your beauty available?

And the poor sap you told to stand at the apex of the turn is even goonier.

That said, and since no one is dead, "good work".

It's hysterical!

The last snow storm in the NE I did the same thing in over a foot of snow. No one else on the road though. I live for this sh t. The next day on my way to my shop I felt a violent vibration throughout the whole car. I thought I broke something! It turned out to be frozen packed snow stuck in the wheels from the depth of the snow. Doing that with all seasons on open roads, I officially declare you insane. That was awesome.

Yeah, we just had tons of snow up here in the great white north of Vancouver, BC, Canada. I got a little excited and bent the lower left control arm and left tie- rod on a downhill corner. It sucks dude, havent gotten the bill yet, not gonna like it though...

To be honest this was actually kind of weak, I had a few better runs, but this was all we got on film that morning.
Went up and down that hill 10-15 times both in the A8 and in a 95 Audi 90 Quattro Sport, and the A8 was a lot more fun.

It has a lot more punch in it.
Combine that with, DSP (selects from over 200 shift programs to match drivers needs) and hill detection capability, the excellent suspension, Four link front suspension with stabilizer bar,
* Trapezoidal link rear suspension with track control arm and upper location link and stabilizer bar and slip control, (permanent all-wheel drive system, includes TORSEN torque sensing center differential; front and rear electronic differential locks (EDL),with 225/55 R 17 H speed rated high performance all-season,
not to forget the cupholders and
* First Aid kit located in rear center armrest
* Emergency warning triangle located in trunk,
it was the drug of choice.;)
