The H4 bulbs is the SAME as a 9003 bulb. Only difference is the packagin. Next time you're at the store, look at the stamping on the actual bulb,... you will see it says '55/60w H4' on it...

It's mainly the headlight HOUSING that has to be DOT (read bass-ackwards) certified.

i want info on replacement light bulbs available on the net today BUT i have some questions

Do all light bulbs have to be DOT or highway safety approved or certified? all these makers of
bulbs are coming out and so do these need to be approved to be legal?

if all these part stores are selling illegal blue bulbs, what is anyone doing about them? are they
allowed to sell them?

how does the store know if they are legal or not?

do you know how one gets a bulb approved by DOT ? does it have to go under testing by them
by submitting a bulb to them or what?

the requirements for luminosity by the government, are they met by all the bulbs out there? what
about the blue bulbs, i suppose you think they are too dim for the government, so are they illegal
or still fine to use? how are they controlled if everyone is selling them? Who or what
government agency is controlling this or are replacement bulbs not legally required to be within
the gov ratings.

thanks
