Just to let everyone know - changing the fluid
does not necessarily will solve the problems.
I had noises on a cold startups as well when
changing the gears - torq converter fell apart.
Price $3500.00. Car runs like new now.
Have nice weekend.
I was under the impression that you couldn't get anything but a whole new tranny from Audi.

will certainly help to prevent a lot of potential problems. Once the tranny is damaged (for whatever reason), changing the fliud/filter won't fix it. In the case of these Audi ZF transmissions, prevention is potentially worth $$thousands in avoided repairs. There will always be problems that normal maintenance can't prevent- but proper maintenance WILL prevent many others. Bottom line- change the transmission fluid and filter every 30K-40K miles and get the most life possible from your tranny.

What were the exact symptoms that your transmission exhibited that were solved by the torque converter replacement?
How much of the $3500 was labor and how much was parts.
