FIRST OF ALL:
I´m german, but no professional translator, so there are bound to be errors.

Hope you can enjoy the article of AutoBILD, just don´t call me a$$ or nazi any more, o.k. ?
If you want to know why I am surprised to find oh-so-tolerant people on this forum,

The Rowdy S4 (that´s a pun: Raudi is german for Rowdy)

Xenon-light, big wheelarches und fat doorsills: Despite this, the Audi RS4 doesn´t look like 380 bhp.

Ladies and gentleman, how far it will they go ?

Recently Porsche announced the turbo, pumping out 420 bhp. And now Audi pushes a stationwagon to the stagelights, which will take your breath away: The new RS4 offers 380 bhp. When using such numbers it is better to repeat it in words: threehundredeighty bhp, dressed in a A4 Avant.
The Imagination alone will send shudders down the spine of some people, and not shudders of joy alone. The most powerful middle-class-car will need two reasonable hands.

When his humble understatement-front appear in the rearview-mirror, nobody will realize it is a true sportscar. But that´s exactly what the RS4 is about. The stationwagon-rocket is claimed to reach 62 mph in less than 5 seconds, the governed top-speed of 250 km/h ( ca. 155 mph) might be stated only to calm down the public opinion.

Technically the RS4 is once again the proof, what Audi can conjure out of his dreamteam Turbo plus quattro. The S4 is the basis for this new stationwagon-rocket, with 265 bhp itself no looser, yet by no way on the limit as Engineers were happy to tell.

(ausgereizt - reizen is a pun too hard to translate for me now...)

The improvement was done by the quattro GmbH, while the engine is rumoured to have been fiddled with by Cosworth. The british specialists belong to Audi since Juli 1998.

Under the hood, only the basic points remain untouched: a V6 with 2.7 litres, 2 turbochargers and 5 valves per cylinder. Using bigger turbos and more boost the Power was raised by 115 bhp to 380 bhp @ 6500 rpm. Therefore the RS4 tops (which is important for préstige) his predecessor RS2, which had 315 bhp.

The rest is technic as supposed from Audi: A 6-speed-gearbox and quattro to channel so much power to the road without loss. Furthermore there is a once again modified S4-suspension . The 18"-wheels with a new design provide space for larger brakes. A steering with shorter gearing is supposed to improve handling - very suitable for the "Top-modell for the discerning sports-oriented driver".
Him the quattro GmbH has to win. Audi pushes his factory-tuner to be a "Lifestyle-shop" like the M GmbH of BMW. So quattro (situated in Neckarsulm) offers loud colors for Audis, the quattro handbag for the lady and in spring 2000 the RS4 as the top of the world of Audi.
The estimated price: 120.000 DM.

The quattro-program will grow. The RS4 is only the first child of a new RS-family, which is even above the sporty S-Series (S3 to S8). Therefore a RS3 or RS6 is to be seen in the next year.

Why I am a a$$ ... (Read the followups !)

...your other issue, as a German American(as well as French and Irish - we tend to mix things here, pretty well I might add), don't let one persons rant get under your skin. It would appear that most of the responces were supportive, even if they didn't completely agree with your POV.

What happended in the world during the 30's & 40's was as tragic as it gets. There is a minority of people that will never trust Germans, and backside into name calling over any issue. Oh well - what are you going to do?

But, IMHO, most people know, that since the war the German people have not ignored the chain of events (and lessons) of what led to the terror of WWII. Unlike, the Japanese, whos school teachings paint a much different face on their role in the war.

A while back we had a whole Rice Boy (though I'll still call any hopped upped, disgustingly stickered, over wheeled and tired, with a big exhaust sticking out - a Rice Burner)debate, some good points were made, from the left coast org'ers. And, as FDR said, "jaw, jaw, jaw is better then war, war, war..."

I guess what I'm trying to say is that tollerence and being open to opposing points-of-view (and the differences among people), is what we all need to stand for. So some guy called you an ass, worse yet a Nazi, shows you how small he is.

You're proving my point by showing your concern about the whole subject. Know that not everyone from the good old US of A is an ignorant Bubba. So, have a Great Day.

I'll get off my Soap Box now...

As far as your experiences with a few ignorant people. Remember we are talking about the internet, where you will find all kinds of people with all kinds of views and opinions. They are all free to express them no matter how repulsive they may be to you and me.

However, you also have the freedom to ignore it and focus on the purpose of the forum. By providing a link in this thread back to the original thread YOU have chosen to continue the issue by bringing it back to people's attention. This creates anothe bandwidth wasting thread of personal attacks that strays from the original purpose of this forum.

My advice to you (take it or leave it), is to continue contributing to this forum with your thoughts, questions, and opinions about the Audi A4 and other related topics and just ignore any personal attacks.

However, remember that your way isn't the only way. You can also learn to provide your opinions in a more sensitive manner. To be honest, your original post had a very condescending, negative tone which can cause people to lash out with personal attachs. If people choose to change their oil every 3000 miles, that is their choice, and it doesn't make them idiots.

Rock On!
