Call me crazy, but I've agreed to live for a while in a state that has made radar detectors illegal, police that actually enforce the front license plate laws, and a personal tax based on the blue book of your car! (Actually like VA a lot; no offense intended...)

Anyway, I had a great relationship with my former dealer and am hopeful I can have the same experience while I'm here. Anyone on this forum knowledgable about dealers in the Northern VA, DC-area? The dealers listed in the yellow pages are HBL (which looked more like a MBz shop after a drive-by) and Heishman's. Any opinions, notes about either? Other thoughts? All input appreciated.

weve bought 4 audis from HBL and theyve really gone in the toilet, had a black A8 from there, and serviced there, they have no idea what they are doing. Heismans is where i take my Coupe Quattro and A6 now, they are probably the best around for audi, i take the 20valve coupe to a porsche guy there cause its harder to work on than the new audis, but the audi division good there too. i think they called themselves audi of alexandria now though

sold me my A6 4.2 one year ago. Fortunately the car has been trouble-free. Their service department has been a pleasure to do deal with for routine maintenance. FSK now sells the A8 series.

Dropped by HBL and it looked like a sausage factory. It's not necessarily an issue if they are big, but I quickly got the feeling I was not going to get that "personal touch". In their defence, they seemed to be more an Mercedes place. Their MBz show room is about 4X that of audi and their service and parts areas were covered with MBz literature, etc. If I wanted an MBz, I would have bought one...

Hey Scott

Welcome to NoVa. It's good to see that youve gotten up close and personal with the property tax. If it's any consolation, the recently elected govt. officials are hopeful about getting rid of the car tax(then again, theyve been saying that ever since I started school at GW and I graduated a year ago)

Yeh, there are a couple dealerships here. Criswell in Annapolis, HBL near Tysons, Audi of Alexandria, and FSK.
Havent dealt with FSK nor Criswell, but have been to HBL and Audi of Alexandria(previously Audi of Arlington) for service.
Audi of Arlington was erratic in their service. Sometimes things ended up well and other times things didnt end up like I had hoped, but I guess it's like that at all dealerships depending on the various levels of skill in their mechanics. At least they were willing to admit their error and fix that unattached driver's seat problem. :D

Ive only been to HBL for routine service and they were quite nice indeed. Had a loaner ready for me and everything. It might sound odd to mention that, but there have been times when I've had my car serviced and there was no loaner for me (much to my dismay). Hopefully that wont be the case with you.

BTW, you might be the only S8 I've ever seen on the road in this area.

Anyways, good luck with the dealerships. I hope things are consistently good for you.
