I'm new to the forum and about to make my first A8 purchase. Does 34K for an Audi certified '99 A8 with 40k seem reasonable? The reason for the inquiry is that prices appear to fairly erratic based on my research.

I'm no expert, but I would say it depends on where you live and what condition the car is in. The Audi certified cars are usually in exemplary condition, however.
The price sounds good to me. A pristine 99 out here on the West Coast can run over $40K, although obviously if you shop around, you can probably do better (though not necessarily with a certified Audi car). The East coast is probably a whole 'nother story, since they use all sorts of nasty chemicals to clear snow and ice from the roads, not mention the generally poor condition of many roads.
You might want to verify the service record if possible.

Thats actually a steal........just make sure the car is in good condition. If its certified then you have no problems, if not have a mechanic and a body guy check it out. Remember, it only showsup on car fax if the incident was reported!!

I just took delivery of the car yesterday, it is in absolutely pristine condition. I drove it from Chicago to Grand Rapids and noticed that it has a few issues, including the notorious front brake pulsation. Overall I am pleased with my purchase. Fortunately the car is Audi assured.
