I feel that because of my presence in this newsgroup a few feel necessary to bash, insult and slander somebody that frequents both the Audi and the BMW church. While I like both cars I prefer one to the other. My opinion is totally un-biased because I own both the A8 and the 750iL. However I do feel that the recent rants have caused the forum to deviate from it's intended purpose therefore, I will limit my posts to a minimum and keep the on topic (like the ones concerning tire suggestions etc.). However I ask all readers to help stop the off topic posters. In case there is any doubt I own the mighty Audi 8, please follow the link below and take a look at it. I will create an Audi only page shortly.

Seems like charlesA has become notorious for his BS in other forums, and this is what triggered off the flamethrowing. As an aside what fascinates me is why someone who apparently has a family and the wealth to own 3 seriously nice cars feels the need to BS like this about 200mph F50 rides/S8s etc. This guy is hardly some social misfit teen tapping away on a computer in his parents basement? I went to test drive an S500 at the dealership and I was very disappointed for the following reasons:

No performance whatsoever
Cheap leather
Rug on the last quater of the dashboard
Noisy in the back
No heated rear seats and steering wheel
Steering wheel too light when driving over 55MPH
Slow transmission

The dealer said "you are spolied from your wife's A8 quattro (actually S8), only the S600 can do the same job"

I have a simple question: what are you getting for $95K? Any experience on the S600 since my dealer doesn't have one to drive?

All I asked for is:
Performance
Luxury (Nappa lether, 4 adj. heated seats, very quiet, comfortable)

We have it on the AudiS8 (unlike the BENZ it goes in the snow...) why can't Benz make a comparable car...

But an S8 is the same car is an A8 so there is no issue with calling one the other. Everybody knows that.

It's an A8 modified to be an S8 by a dealer in Italy. S8 engine, S8 suspensions, S8 everything but badges (for that matter it's totally de-badged)

Sorry guy, but that surely isn´t a S8. You stated that an Italian dealer would have made a conversion of an A8 into an S8? Why should anyone make such an upgrade which is indeed more expensive than a real S8? Well, looks like the dealer was out of money because he didn´t retrofit the aluminium mirrors...

Note that S8 is the production code of a car, so only a S8 produced as an S8 is an S8. Just retrofitting an A8 don´t make an S8. Indeed, I don´t believe that the car on Your mentioned link contains any S8 part. Retrofitting an A8 to an S8 would be a financial desaster, unlike with Audi 200´s or similar old cars there are no used parts around, and building such a thing up from spare parts would cost more than such a retrofitted S8 will bring the dealer. And when done with a new car You even loose Audi waranty...

Perhaps You can tell us what dealer this was, I´m often in Italy... ;-)
