I had given up on this board because it was dead for quite a while but it is nice to see some new posts when I check back. I was wondering, do most of the participants here own A8's? I know two of you do because you have e-mailed me. One is a BRAND new owner, you know who you are, and congratulations to you, you are really going to love it.

Anyway, please keep this great board going because it is nice to talk with other A8 owners. It is rare if ever to bump into one on the road and most non-Audi people don't gawk at the car like a BMW and Mercedes, likely just thinking it is a big Mercury or Buick. We get no respect!!!!

So, anybody who owns or loves the A8 continue to keep this board hopping.

Been reading this board for about a year and was disappointed in the lack of posts. As soon as the S8 comes to America I'll be posting a lot more!

Yes it's good to see more responses. I wonder what is causing it. The new model year and new owners? Definitly the case with Bart. Or is it that the winter weather has some of spending more time on the computer? I can see that being the case with some of the east costers, particularly in the southeast. Sorry, no offense to our friends here, but quattro or not icy roads are no place for any car. Be careful out there!

I have been following this board for quite a while, and was impressed with the level of knowledge that people have about the A8. Since it was hard to reach many owners of the car, I used this forum as a means of determining what actual owners think of the A8. I am pleased to say that I now own a 2000 A8, racing green/ecru, with 17" wheels, xenon lights, and cold weather package. I have only had the car for two months, but I find something more to love about it each day! I am sure I will check here often for news about the car, and will post my own thoughts and experiences with this great automobile as I get to know it better!

I regret not getting the WARM package - it would have been handy last year. Mine is similar to yours (albeit a '99 Ming Blue). I didn't get the GPS either since I already used a GARMIN STREETPILOT unit.

I am totally jealous. That is my favorite all time color combo!! Good pick. Congratulations on your wonderful car. (Want to trade it for a blue one?)

We need more pictures here so I can look at them and wish I had 50 more A8's. Just great.

I think that A8 sales are quietly taking off. (more owners) My dealer told me that every one he can get his hands on is spoken for. (not the LWB, though,) which is all that Audi is making in January and February A8 production. Go figure

Gawk, I don't know. I just drove the car to Denver this weekend. Driving around Salt Lake and Denver I have noticed a lot of rubbernecks around. I am waiting for an accident to happen. The other day in Denver I was in a left turn lane and a guy in a jeep came almost to a complete stop as he went by and straight in the intersection. The look on his face was something like Wow, what kind of car is that.

Then there was that jack ass cop from Evanston Wyoming. I have driven to Denver about 3 times a year for 18 years. Until last night the only ticket I have ever gotten was in '82 for going 75 in a 55 at 2:00 am. Last nights $85 ticket was for going 84 in a 75 (same highway different speed limit, yeah!). 9 miles over, had I been driving my '91 200q 20v nothing would have happened. I think that there are a few gawkers out there.

Nobody ever notices me. My A6 4.2 in Melange got lots of stares but I might as well be driving a blue Buick for the amount of people who notice my Ming Blue A8.

Silver '00. 3 weeks old. 16" Borbet rims with studded haka 1 snows. I wasn't too particular about how the wheels looked for winter driving. I now like the borbets better than stock rims. Now I am thinking about replacing the 17" rims with something nicer looking for the summer.
