It says on the Valentine 1 site that Audi A8's have bad glass for radar detectors and that it cuts effectiveness by 95% which means I am not going to even bother hard wiring in my detector. They said it is the optional thermal glass or something like that and that it had a bronze tint. On my 2000 A8 I do not have this option nor did I see this option even offered. Nor do I see a bronze tint. Does this warning still apply to the 2000 cars? If you have any info on this please share, it is important to me. Thanks.

...I've previously read (can't recall where, it *may* be the Escort SR1) that there are some radar detectors on the market which utilize front grille "probes" to eliminate the windshield issue. Basically you mount the probe, invisibly, on/behind the grille and run a wire to the interior of the car where the warning sounds/displays. Hope this helps.
