My owner's manual tells me how to program my Audi Homelink garage door opener. My 2000 A6 4.2 had the Homelink but when I got the 2000 A8 it was not there. So, do you other 2000 A8 owners have the Audi Homelink system on your visor? Thanks.

Bart, maybe homelink can be dealer installed (like BMW garage opener)?

With your earlier radar detector window question, maybe a under hood garage opener would operate stronger, and hide away nicer, then a standard clip on the visor type...

Stanley openers have a $25 opener that mounts under the hood attached to the high beam wire... flash your highs at the garage to open or close it. I us one.

I finally got the word from my dealer. The HomeLink system comes on every Audi model there is all the way down to the 1.8 FWD A4. The only model it does not come on is the A8. Isn't that a most peculiar situation? Seems like the first car to get it would be the A8. It is not available to install later either.

I bought a tiny, universal opener that works good but I like your bright light thing better. Where can I buy this? Our door opener is a Stanley as luck would have it and that sounds very convenient. Thanks for the tip.

I know that you have checked this out and the curious answer is that the A8 does not come with Homelink transmitter. However, while this feature is not listed among the specs and features of the A8 on www.audiusa.com, the comparison feature of the web site states otherwise (Homelink is listed as standard feature). I believe the data for the comparison feature comes from a third party source, but in any case it is incorrect.
