I've noticed that there are some seemingly knowledgeable folks here on The Forum who cling to the mistaken belief that Audi's resale value is something less than stellar. I've taken the time to transcribe the following residual percentages from the "A.L.G." This is the national "bible" for leasing residuals that is used by virtually every manufacturer, bank, and dealer in America. The ALG Co. in Cal. processes all the data from auctions, etc. and publishes a bi-monthly guide that drives most of the leasing business in the USA. This guide is as close to a crystal ball as anyone can get. I think you'll find the Jan.-Feb.'99 guide interesting; here goes.
24mo./36mo./48mo.
Acura Integra GSR 64/58/53
TL 67/61/56
Audi A4 1.8TQ 68/62/56
A4 2.8Q 65/59/54
A6Q 65/59/54
BMW 323i 67/61/55
328i 67/61/56
528i 64/58/52
Honda Accord EX 66/60/55
Infiniti I30 57/51/46
Lexus ES 300 64/56/49
GS300 64/57/51
Mercedes Benz C230&280 66/60/55
E320 67/60/53
Nissan Maxima GLE 57/52/47
Saab 9*3 SE 59/52/46
Subaru Forester 67/62/58
Outback 59/53/48
Legacy GT 56/52/48
Toyota Camry XLE 64/59/54
Volkswagen Passat 1.8 GLS 61/56/51
Volvo S70 AWD 59/53/48
Well, I hope you're still interested! The point of my post is that anyone who tells you that a new Audi's resale will be weak is IGNORANT of the facts. You'll note, in fact, that the A41.8Q has the BEST projected resale of ANY CAR on this list!
Questions/comments/opinions?
