View Full Version : Very bad experience at Plaza Motors - St. Louis, MO (long but worth reading)

Well, since moving from AZ to MO I developed the notorious B-pillar noise on the driver's side. Went to Plaza Motors (down the street from me). Should have known better and should have gone to Parktown but hindsight is always 20/20.

First of all I had to schedule an appointment just to have someone drive the car with me. Well, thats ok. After 4 separate visits two service advisors heard the noise. They said that they will fix it and told me to make an appointment (2 weeks away BTW) and bring the car in. Ok, so far so good.

Dropped the car off. First question out of their mouths - "Didn't someone call you, the tech that takes care of those problems is not here today". Well gosh, how about another tech look at it. Ok they said. They promised me a loaner and gave me one. Said that they would cover the expense.

I get a call later that day (fri) and I am told that the technician can not duplicate the noise. I say, "But you (the service advisor) heard it and another service advisor heard it". "Yes, but the tech can't hear it and we can't do anything about it", they say.

In brief I said that it was hardly fair to make me bring the car in on 4 different occasions and for them to actually hear the noise then and now dismiss it just because the tech can not hear it.

I offered some advice as to what the problem might be (I had searched the archives and had come up with a list). Pretty much what I wanted them to do was to make sure that the door panels were tight on the driver's side - thats it !

They were completely unwilling to do ANYTHING and furthermore told me that it was not worth their time to pay a tech $50/hour to address a problem that did not exist.

I was pretty shocked when they said that. I asked if I could go for another ride with the service manager and was told that he would be busy the rest of the _week_ and would be unable to go for a ride. Too busy to take 10 minutes out of his schedule ? Give me a break !

It was apparent to me that they just did not care and I told them that I would come by and pick the car up (it was monday by then).

I arrive to get my car and I get the bill for the rental (4 days x $30/day). I say, "I thought that you were covering the rental".

The reply - "Well we forgot that you were from AZ - we only give rentals to people who bought their cars new here".

Ok, it would have been nice if they had told me that it advance but they did not. They said that it was an error and I owed them $120.

At this point I was fuming. I said that I refused to pay. They refused to give the car back to me unless I paid them. I said that this was ridiculous. I threatened to call the police (never had to do that before). They finally relented when I was about to dial 911(no kidding).

As I was about to leave they told me that I was not welcome to bring my car to them again - like I would make _that_ mistake twice.

All of this over a lousy rattle a bloody warranty item.

Needless to say I was less than amuzed by the was I was mistreated by Plaza. To say that their customer sevice was poor would be the biggest understatement.

p.s. this was the short version of the events that transpired

Whom can I complain to about this ?

Maybe you could hire some mercenaries or assassins to go wreck shop at that dealership. I would have made the freakin service advisors so scared they'd crap their pants right there. I'm really sorry to hear about your experience...hope you get your noise fixed.

Good luck!

First, write a letter to the manager/owner of the dealership. Next call Audi of America and find out the correct person to complain to at the national level - follow up with a written letter to them. Finally, call you local Better Business Bureau and lodge a complaint.
