View Full Version : So Stuart just finished the job... (Shikora Enginering) JIM H. 12-07-1998, 06:42 PM Schwagg 12-07-1998, 08:48 PM Raja 12-07-1998, 09:27 PM Agreed! I would also say that one of the things we learn in the 1st year is that over 90% of cases settle. I just feel for you though. After the initial damage was done you might have been able to reach a quick settlement and get the damaged fixed. The other 2 or 3 runs must have really done a job on the wheels. Step to them about it, but from what I read in your initial post, doesn't seem like that guy wants to budge. Damon 01-12-1999, 04:58 PM Came by my work today, like clockwork, and installed the missing t-body clip, re-checked all the programming and still didn't ask for any $. As far as his calling you guys who left him messages back, He's been in meetings all day with a team that came out from Germany who work for Bosch. He thanked me for making a post and said that recieved several calls about re-programming 12Vs. He says he WILL call you all back.
I can tell, yes, that he's a bit snake like. But I can also tell that he really knows what he's doing. Anyone that shows up in a suit and fixes my car with a borrowed flashlight and a 10mm box wrench in the parking lot of Sony Music AND goes out of his way to check all his programming before leavin' is OK to work on my car. Would I give him a blind deposit? Never. Would I ever let him out of my sight with my A4? HELLS NO! But with me standing over his shoulder he can do whatever he feels he needs to my car.
Now he does want me to pay for the work. But not before I drive the car and know that it's to MY liking. He offered to dyno the car this weekend and do another "fluff n' fold" as he put it, to better dial in the software in real time. It is at this time after having drivin the car for a few days and seeing the #s roll off the dyno that he wants his 400 bucks.
-Damon
98 Avant 30v QMS, Custom re-programming MichaelB 01-12-1999, 05:15 PM Damon,
I've tried to follow some of what you have posted regarding Stuart, but probably missed quite a bit. Just curious as to *why* you choose a custom chip for your 30v versus a Wett or other chip.
I had the Wett 30v chip prior to the PES system and was quite satisfied. I'm not saying by any means that you made a bad decision, rather, I'm simply curious as to what made you look elsewhere.
What benefits have you seen with the new chip by Stuart? What kind of numbers is he thinking you will get on the dyno? Just curious, as there is only so much you can tweak on the 30v.
With the Wett chip, I found an improvement in throttle response, along with a noticable improvement in power throughout the entire rev range. The power increase was most apparent on the high rpm range. However, low rpm responsiveness was definitely improved. Now that I have the PES system (and am very happy with it I might add), it's too late for me. However, I am real curious as to how your current chip by Stuart compares to the Wett.
Mike MichaelB 01-12-1999, 05:28 PM I checked again, and found the post about the AMS chip you had. That explains some of it. However, please post a bit more about these clips you are talking about. Where the heck are they located, etc. Once you have driven the car with the t-body clip installed, please post whether or not you saw any differences.
Also, did you notice any difference in driving situations other than full-throttle? Just curious as to whether or not he changed all the maps, or just full-throttle.
I'm not in the market for a chip or anything, but this whole story has me intrigued. I guess curiousity has got the cat (me).
Mike |
