Hi All,
Well, first off let me say that after a week being away from my baby, I love having it back! Unfortunately it took that long to locate a part that was needed. I got it back last Friday and basically spent all weekend driving it. It’s soooo good to have it back!

Last Friday I dropped my car off at Rector in Burlingame for the 5K scheduled maintenance, at 6100 miles; procrastination has always been my downside. I’ve heard other A4.orgers praise Rector, and rightfully so. It was great to deal with professional service people. My list of nit picks was a little long but was handled well by the technician…..

1. Use the provided Mobil 1 15W-50 synthetic oil. >Done.

2. There was a rattle coming from right rear wheel area, most noticeble at around 25mph. Loose shock or bushing? It's driving me crazy. >Confirmed rattle. Found out it was a bad strut. Removed and replaced strut assembly, and aligned. Took one week to get part. Ugh!

3. Slight rattle from front passenger seat, while driving on highway. >Tightened seat mounting bolts, and no more noise.

4. Manuel transmission feels sticky/notchy when engaging 2nd and sometimes 3rd gear. >Everything seems to be within specs, but was told they lubed the syncros (?) or something. Seems to be a little better.

5. Windshield wiper nozzle sprays windshield wiper, not windshield. Needs a slight adjustment up. >Nozzled reaimed.

6. When initially getting in car and at the first stop, there is a clicking from the right front wheel area. Thereafter no clicking until the next time getting in car. >Technician said it was related to bad strut...haven’t heard the clicking yet so maybe it was.

All in all I am very pleased with Rector’s service dept. Hector was friendly and professional. Definitely will be going back for the 10K scheduled maintenance. Right after I picked it up, I was coming up on a corner I hadn't been able to take very aggressively in a while. As I was approaching the corner, just the thought of ripping around it gave me a grin....then I hammered into it...bigger grin. Ahhhh, gotta love it! =)

The Dodge Durango loaner was nice, but obviously rather have my silver baby any day. After the first day with the Dogde Durango loaner I was already missing my A4, handling wise and gas wise ($$$). Although, I did get a lot of comments from co-workers about the SUV. People seem to like it. If you like 2 tons plus of bulk, that can’t corner or handle very well, by all means.

Ironically, when I got home Friday night, JD Powers and Associates had sent me a questionnaire. Asking, now that I’ve had the car 3 months, is this your first Audi, how was your dealer experience, what kinds of problems have you had, would you go Audi again, etc. The bulk of it was focused on problems, with headings like engine, transmission, exterior, interior, etc. I'm sure most of you know it. I didn't expect this, so it was a surprise to me. I didn’t think it would, but it even had a suspension bubble to fill in, my only "black" mark.

Hopefully it'll go well.
I know the curve you're talking about- the onramp to 101 South from the dealership where the traffic coming off 101 doesn't stop, but the other 3 directions have stop signs? So when it clears up, there are 3 cars looking at each other to see who'll jump first (answer: YOU). And the onramp merges very tightly with 2 other lanes. Just GUN IT and it's like the other cars aren't even there.....nice to see you punched it right away. Doesn't it feel nice to have the tight control back after a week in the Dodge'r?
So we'll see you on the track soon, right???
:)

Hector was great. I think I'm set with Rector!

And you're right about the curve....that's the first curve I hammered into! What a feeling that was! Sweeeeeet! Now that I'm thinking about it, wish I could go do it right now...damn work always gets in the way.

I almost forgotten was performance was like. The Dodge was like...turn the wheel, then the Dodge seemed like "oh, you want to turn", then it turns. When I got back into my car, I found myself over compensating. The A4 responds RIGHT NOW. No hesitation. Love that! =)
