I have found my peace in the realization that I will probably have to wait until next year to get one anyway.
For starters, you might try checking the archives for info.
There was talk about the introduction being done offically in Cali in Sept. and that all cars must wait at the port until the official introduction.
But then again...

Sorry...I am just getting sorta frustrated that people do not check the archives...and
see what is already said about the S4...it release date...its price...its options...its
performance. Alot of people have discussed the S4 here...pls check the archives.

That being said...here is probably what you want to know:

Marketing Release Date: Probably August 30, 1999

Marketing Release Location: Monterey CA (right after the Monterey Historic
Races at Laguna Seca Raceway)

First Date seen in the US: probably several months ago (testing grounds in
Colorado, Arizona, and probably at AoA headquarters)

First Date at Dealers to buy: My quess is September 2nd - October 1st.
Most of the ones coming in soon are already spoken for...but dealers like
Jon Shafer at Cutter Motors in Santa Barbara CA...and Ernst Gosch at
Diablo Audi in Concord CA have some still available that are on route to
the US now.

How many Available at each dealer: Most dealers are getting about 2-3 per
month...heavy volume dealers, of course, will get more allocated to them.

How many will be made: Debatable....I would guess 2,000 for the model
year will be delivered to the US. So...much more exclusivity than the E36 M3 was.

Cost: $39K Base...fully loaded at $43.5K plus luxury tax over $36K

Marketing Price Release Date: I am guessing September 2, 1999.


That all being said, I plan on ordering one as soon as the pricing sheets are
released to dealers. I need to confirm MSRP, residual values, etc. BTW, I
have ridden in one...you WILL want it.
